作者簡介：Sergey Aleksandrovich, 畢業于Kalinnin Suvorov軍事學院， 高級軍事學院（the Higher Military Academy），莫斯科國立歷史檔案研究院�，F任俄羅斯聯邦國防部檔案中心的副主任（Assistant chief），是許多關于衛國戰爭的歷史科學著作的作者。

    Aleksandrovich主要依據衛國戰爭期間和戰后，各個軍事單位和軍事人民委員會的正式傷亡報告統計的永久損失，永久損失包括以下幾類：

    1. 軍事單位報告的陣亡（killed from reports of military units）

    2. 軍事人民委員會報告的陣亡（killed from reports of military commissariats）

    3. 軍事單位報告的失蹤（missing from reports of military units）  

    4. 軍事人民委員會報告的失蹤（missing from reports of military commissariats） 

    5. 德國戰俘營中的死亡（died in German captivity）  

    6. 病死（died of illness）  

    7. 軍事單位報告的傷死（died of wounds from reports of military units）

    8. 軍事單位人民委員會的傷死（died of wounds from reports of military commissariats） 
 
    Aleksandrovich綜合以上各類統計，排除了重復之后，得到衛國戰爭期間蘇聯正規軍事力量的死亡人數：
    紅軍士兵和士官死亡人數12,434,398  

    紅軍軍官死亡人數1,100,000 

    海軍死亡人數（包括軍官和士兵）154,771 
 
    內衛部隊（NKVD）死亡人數97,700  

    邊境部隊死亡人數61,400 

    蘇聯正規軍事力量總死亡人數：13,850,000，即1385萬。
